Packaging and Presentation
As you can see by the above three photos, the packaging used for the box is quite attractive and not just a plain box with an address label. The individual bar packaging is also attractive and easy to open. The overall aesthetic and practicality is well thought out and a big selling point for these bars.
The first thing you will notice is the minimal number of ingredients and all are natural.
Taste Test
The taste is very good given the natural ingredients. The tallow in the texture is noticeable and the optional salt packs a crunch, ending up with the overall eating experience being satisfying without any bloating. Except for the honey versions, the bars are conducive to staying in ketosis.
The standout flavor if not on a strict carnivore diet is the honey version without salt, which is the closest taste to a competitor high-protein bar. My preference is to eat them cold, right out of the fridge as the tallow tastes so much better!
Nutritional Analysis
Each bar contains beef, tallow, and there are options including salt, no-salt, salt + raw honey, and Pluck (an organ-based seasoning), which is the equivalent of an 6oz Ribeye steak with 80 percent of the calories from fat and 20 percent of the calories from protein.

Price and Value
The regular cost is $95 per box of six bars (plus shipping) which is $15.83 per bar or $14.25 per bar if you buy with a subscription. However, I recommend that you use my link to purchase so each box of six bars costs you $85.50 (plus shipping) or $14.25 per bar. For an even better value, use my link to buy on subscription so your cost is only $66.50 per box (plus shipping) or $11.08 per bar.
As a comparison, I can buy a 10oz grass-fed, pasture-raised ribeye steak for $12.75 with a subscription plan so these bars are on the high-end price wise.
Pros and Cons
The main advantages and disadvantages are:
Pros
- Aligns with carnivore diet and except for the honey versions, the bars are conducive to staying in ketosis
- Taste will not appeal to everyone but those already used to a carnivore diet will enjoy it
- Satiating enough to replace a snack or get you to the next meal while on the go
- All natural ingredients, no preservatives or fillers
- Non-GMO & Gluten Free
- Grass-fed, grass-finished beef
- Digestible, no bloating
- Shelf stable and easy to carry around or just leave in your bag
Cons
- Not enough for a meal replacement (you’d most likely need to eat two bars)
- More expensive and no free shipping option on bulk orders
Overall Rating
I give the bars an 8/10 rating.
What is holding me back from a higher rating? The cost and that it does not pass as a meal replacement. However, it is a great snack option or for those situations where you cannot sit down and have a proper meal but still want to eat and stay on your carnivore diet.
👍 C’mon, The Carnivore Bar, provide free shipping and I will upgrade my rating to 9/10! 👍
Recommendation
My recommendation is that those already on a carnivore diet will benefit most from these bars. Those not following a strict carnivore diet should first try out the unsalted honey bar versions before they buy a box of another flavor.
I am definitely taking a box on my next personal or business trip! ✈️
