Measure Gut Permeability

It’s time to bite the bullet and let’s clinically measure my gut permeability.

After doing some research, I decided to go with a test called PEG400 and work with Paleomedicina, in Hungary to measure my gut permeability.

I watched and read Zsofia Clemens’ extensive work in the field of gut permeability and its impacts on various chronic conditions, autoimmunity being one of them.

PEG400 is a urine test. The molecule polyethylene glycol, the main ingredient in the solution, is swallowed and then passes through the gut wall and into the circulation with varying degree, depending on how robust or not your gut is.

By measuring the amount of PEG in the urine, your doctor can reconstruct an absorption profile. PEG doesn’t take any part of your body chemistry and it’s safe for your body.

To get the correct sample of urine for testing, it must be collected over the 6-hour period. It then must be put in a special container, and it will be sent to a testing lab in Hungary.

It will be a while before I get the results, so stayed tuned for the findings.
