Lipoma Surprise took me to Poland for Surgery

My lipoma surprise took me to Poland for surgery and thankfully the extra bump on my elbow wasn’t a lipoma after all. It turned out to be a damaged synovial bursa.

SURGERY

While on vacation in Poland I went to a clinic to have it checked out. The surgeon was fantastic so if you are around Wielczka and need a surgery, check them out: Gabiney Vitars:

I thought it was going to be a simple incision with a stitch or two and I would be done. I was wrong. Though my elbow looked like a lipoma, it was a damaged synovial bursa caused by inflammation. The surgeon said that there was no longer any active inflammation going on which was helpful for the bursa to heal and not get inflamed again.

WHAT CAUSED INFLAMMATION OF SYNOVIAL BURSA

What caused the inflammation of my synovial bursa can’t be determined for sure. I remember though when it was happening. I was transitioning to carnivore diet and I kept failing to stick with the program: I ate according to Paleo-Ketogenic protocol for a week and then I would ruin it all by binging on fruit. This went on for a few weeks before I got the diet right.  I kept binge eating fruit and within a week I grew the second elbow and two smaller bumps on my achilleas.

When I finally was able to stay consistent with the diet, my lipomas on the leg went away, but the bump on the elbow stayed.

HEALING FROM SURGERY

I got seven stitches, right on my elbow, it looked ugly at first, but it healed nicely.

The surgeon said that if there were still inflammatory processes, this would leak and there would be a lot lymphatic fluids around the wound. But it’s been a while since I had RA, it healed within 10 days. This is what it looks like today:

ACTUAL LIPOMA

There was a big lipoma however somewhere else in my body: by my left shoulder blade. I noticed it 20 years ago and it was a soft squishy thing but I wasn’t bothered by it, because of where it was located. The surgeon suggested to remove it because typically it will continue to grow, and may become a size of a grapefruit. I agreed to the surgery and to my surprise this is what came out:

It was about 7 centimeters long fatty monster. I removed it and so glad I did it. I had two stitches despite its size (it’s soft and squashy).

FINAL THOUGHTS

Although my lipoma surprise took me to Poland for surgery, it seems that the aftermath of Rheumatoid Arthritis is a lot greater than I thought. I have a similar growth on my right wrist. It has two extra sacks on the side of my wrist joint. I am certain it is due to many years of RA. The surgeon punctured it, drained the fluid and gave me a steroid shot. He said that if it doesn’t bother me too much I should let it be because the surgery would be a lot more complicated and there was a risk of side effects to my wrist joint.
