ELIMINATE SUPPLEMENTS

If you follow me for a while, you will know that I was able to put my Rheumatoid Arthritis into remission. I follow a very strict paleo-ketogenic diet. Along with a list of many different food groups, you may also need to eliminate supplements.

SUPPLEMENTS NOT IDEAL WHEN HEALING YOUR GUT

Removing of supplements was hard for me to process because, for the longest, I believed they could only help. I used to be up to date on every new supplement that would have come on the market and take it, because, in my mind, I was an investing in my health for the future and they would prevent ailments of an ageing body.

I still think supplements are very useful whenever appropriate. However, those of us with gut issues and/or autoimmunity, at least temporarily need to eliminate supplements.

ELIMINATE SUPPLEMENTS FOR THE DURATION OF GUT HEALING

I had to stop taking supplements when addressing my gut issues. Besides the actual mineral, vitamin, the supplement will have also rice flour or titanium dioxide to name a few other ingredients that are part of the pill. The reason they are added to the supplements is to help with delivery of the given mineral or compound. And in normal guts this is a seamless process: the gut permeability increases temporarily, and then normalizes within 15-20 minutes. For those of us with leaky gut, the increased permeability can go on for days. If the objective is to heal your gut, at least temporarily, you are better taking  a break from supplementing.

THERE ARE OPTIONS IF YOU NEED TO SUPPLEMENT

And if laying off supplements isn’t an option, taking them in a powder form as pure as you can find is a reasonable solution. My goto is Pure Bulk.

When I fast take the pure electrolytes from LMNT. I can have as much as I want, and no flare ups the next day!

At this stage, except for when I do water fasts, I am off supplements.  When I fast, I take electrolytes.

One day, when I decide that my gut permeability is normal for extended period of time, I am planning to reintroduce supplements, but in limited amounts and mostly as powder.
